It's Chicharito mania in Mexico

United landed in Mexico on Thursday to the soundtrack of screaming fans as Chicharito mania kicked in on the final leg of the Reds' summer travels across North America.

The United new-boy is idolised back home, and fans queued for 12 hours for a glimpse of their hero at a Nike event in Guadalajara.

A deafening din greeted the Reds, and Javier Hernandez in particular, at an open training session later that evening, with thousands of fans turning up to see 'Chicha' and his new team-mates be put through their paces - there was even a pitch invader, a young fan desperate to hug his idol.

Hernandez, for his part, seems to cope with the adulation very well, and Sir Alex, who accompanied his new signing at a press conference, even commented that he seems to be a very level-headed lad.

Chicharito has hardly done anything to quell the excitement with a brief cameo for United just across the border in Houston, Texas - he produced an exquisite finish for the fifth goal in a 5-2 win over MLS All-Stars at the Reliant Stadium.

All this makes the game against Club Deportivo Guadalajara (kick-off Saturday 03:15 BST) a very intriguing prospect indeed.
